Help-line 2 hours per month
Training
Four consecutive classes - 3 hours each
During training you will learn: basic counseling
skills, effective ways to communicate with parents
(may involve role-playing situations), the dynamics
of teaching parenting classes, skills to presenting
anti-victimization presentations to children,
helping to locate area resources, as well as Family
Outreach organizational policies and procedures.
Additional training:
Accompany the casework manager on home visits
Come twice for Help-line training with a seasoned
volunteer
Attend and observe one parenting class (2 hrs)
Attend and observe a presentation in an area schools
