Here's some comments from the walkers from last year's event - a fun time was had by all!
After all the planning and all the training (okay, not so much training) I was totally amazed at how wonderful the Feet Forward for Families/White Rock Marathon turned out to be. I knew so little about the marathon event itself, but from the moment the jets flew overhead to start the half-marathon, and as the bands began to play along the route, and as the people started cheering from their yards and from roadways, I was officially converted. The walking wasn't easy, actually a bit painful, but like childbirth, I soon forgot about the pain and started planning to train for next year's Feet Forward for Families walkathon. I now have a time to beat (3:35:35) and a personal fundraising goal to eclipse. I can't wait until next year! - Susan Penson
I have a daily calendar called "Believing in Ourselves" that has a new thought each day. On September 10th the message was "There is no human failure greater than to launch a profoundly important endeavor and then leave it half done". I read this each day and I believe that is why I faithfully trained for the marathon. It was an awesome and rewarding experience knowing that I had completed my endeavor for both Family Outreach and more importantly for myself. -Carol Staif
At the outset I had a goal in mind - to walk at least 6 mi. - but at the end of 8 mi., my mouth kept saying, "Feet Forward, Feet Forward", but my legs and feet kinda had a mind of their own. The effort was well worth it.- Ann Mozley
The biggest surprise of all is that I finished the 13.1 walk!! The encouragement I got from the very start to the finish line was incredible. The people along the way were so encouraging and they certainly had a lot to do with my going all the way even through the rain!! It was a great experience, AND all for the kids! -Lucy Pascarelli
Nicole, Marian and I were the last off so the police were following us. The marathon markers were already down so we got lost. We laughed all they way as we walked through the pretty neighborhoods and enjoyed the decorations. We ended up having coffee and bagels after six miles. -

Overslept and bought grocery store makeup on the way to the event.
